45/70 Starline brass at brownells.com
... was looking for 45/70 brass myself for quite a while - looks like brownells.com has it in stock now at a "reasonable" price.

I think we got a few more guys here that shoot / reload 45/70. To be honest, if I had to buy the ammo, I probably would be too cheap to shoot it just for fun...

I just paid $35/box for Hornday Leverevolution 325gr 45-70. In the end, I don't shoot it that much and i do enjoy shooting it. But a 20 round session is good for me.The German wrote:I think we got a few more guys here that shoot / reload 45/70. Funny, all the gun stores up here said, prior to deer season, the 444 Marlin guns went first, then the 45-70. I would have guessed it would have been the other way around.

For just fun shooting,I'll load a 350gr. Cast with 13 grains of Unique. Makes for cheap fun day at the range.

Yeah, thanks for warning us big bore guys about the available brass. Normally I'd spring for Starline .45-70, but happily I've already got about 400-500 cases on hand - mostly Starline with a 100 or so Remington for beater brass. That's enough for the small amount of shooting I do. The .45-70 burns a lot of powder, throws a lot of lead, and is a bit rough on the old shoulder after only 10 rounds.

yep, I also load the "cowboy action" loads with 11 gr Unique and the 405 grain lead bullets - the recoil is so soft, a caveman could shoot it...
Mr. Glock - did you take the Leverevolution hunting? I thought about getting them for last years deer season, but then I was out of the country and had not time to hunt (and the caliber seemed to be a bit overkill for squirrels...)
