410 reloads

Post by powderburner »

I am wanting to reload 410 shells for my judge. Has anyone done this successfully? What I am interested in is what combinations of shot/buckshot are feasible. Never having reloaded shotgun shells before, I am also wondering about pressures. There doesn't seem to be as much leeway in the min/max powder charges from the data I have found, compared to pistol reloading.
Any suggestions?

Are you close to a trap/skeet range? I've shot skeet with guys who had 410's, and from the look of the hulls they had been reloaded a few times. I would stop and ask the folks at the front desk. I know the owners of Urbandale in Lake County and I'm sure there would be somebody there that could give you advise.

For shotgun you just follow the load recipes. There really isn't any workup or development.

It probably is worth reloading .410, buggers are twice the price of 12 gauge to buy new and would use way less components.

You may want to try this at your own discretion...
