Live primer question
Ok, I have some rounds I need to take apart. I just got a bullet puller. Can I deprime the cases on my press with live primers? Or will they go bang??

Here's a thread on The Firing Line that addresses this issue...

Yes, what I do is just chuck them into the shell holder one at a time, no powder or other primers in the press, then bring the shell into the die until I feel the deprime pin touch the primer, then slowly ease it out. In most cases I can re-use the primer in another load.

Also I think it is best to use a larger die, say a 45/70 die with a 22 decapping pin, this will allow pressure to vent IF the primer pops. Also remove the primers from the press 1 at a time, IE NO buildup of live primers.
I have reversed the ram in my JR press too as I never use the priming arm, removed it long ago, otherwise the primer if it fires while decapping will speed right at your junk .
I have never had one pop, I often just "pop" them in a firearm.

Have a great day today unless you have made other plans .
