Open carry on a motorcycle

Would there be any issues with carrying a 20Ga on a motorcycle as long as the ammo is in the tailsection, locked up?

I assume that it would need to be slung over my shoulder, not in the soft case.

Going to a range. Hoping to not get into trouble, just want to shoot and be safe. I seriously doubt anyone will rear end me on a bike with a shotgun on my back.

Do you have a license? If so, carry how is comfortable and safe.

a CHL doesn't have anything to do with long gun carry, except for magazines. I would put the gun in a case unloaded and be done with it.

My preference would be to transport the long arm in a zippered, soft-sided case that you could sling. This protects the gun and prevents MWAG calls.

Having said that, if the gun fits the description in 2923.16(C)(4), you could sling it without a case.

Either way, you could then store your ammo in the bike or strap it to the bike with a bungee net.

I would agree with this. If you sling it without a case you may be in compliance with the law, but I would anticipate being stopped if you're riding more than a short distance.

Particularly if you're riding a chopper with straight pipes, flying colors, and wearing a skull mask.

I ended up just tossing it in the bed of my truck and taking it out there.

But I ride old Suzuki's that are kinda under the radar anyway, but I didn't want to take the chance since the range we go to is around 12 miles from home.

I had a 2009 Suzuki Bergman 650 that could have used one of those. 8)

I don't have time to dig through ORC right now, but ORC clearly states that motorcycles are not vehicles.

I don't want to argue the details and I'm sure you'd have a hard time fighting it in court, but Ohio chl laws clearly don't line up with what is in ORC

http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4501" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is the definition you are referring to, I presume. A motorcycle is definitely a motor vehicle.
