man robbed of gun he was openly carrying

Open Carry is carrying a firearm unconcealed in Ohio. OC does not require a concealed handgun license, but the practice requires intimate knowledge of the law since there are places and situations where OC is prohibited but carrying concealed would be permitted. OC is also likely to attract attention. This forum is for discussion of OC, not for debating the pro's and con's or coordinating any type of protest events.

Gresham man robbed of gun he was openly carrying

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A man practicing his open carry right was robbed of the gun he was openly carrying.

William Coleman III was robbed of his Walter- brand P22 just after 2:00 a.m. October 4 in Gresham by a young man who asked him for it — and flashed his own weapon as persuasion.

I recall when this story came out. Details were fleshed out a bit more. Robbery victim also apparently not aware of Tweed Ring's "Iron Triangle of Trouble". 2am in a bad area of town, doing nothing constructive or beneficial for himself and/or fellow man.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

Also underscores Tweed's point that there are certain tactical advantages one gives up when one chooses to open carry.

What was the guy doing OCing at 2:00 AM anyways, smoking a cig on the corner?..Something sounds fishy about that story to me.

I remember when the story first came out and it said that it was his first time carrying. Maybe it was his last, too.

Nice picture of the Walther P22.

Well..Not saying he was up to no good..But I do have to question his timing and place of being where he was...As others have said..he didn't heed TR's Iron triangle of trouble...yeah I smoke..But I wouldn't be doing it at 2 am down on the corner in the ghetto.

I just saw this article where a company is making fake gun decoys for people that want to appear to be armed without going through the hassle and expense and thought of this guy... bad idea.

http://gunssavelives.net/blog/company-t ... -firearms/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Now I wonder what would happen if this guy had a decoy on his hip and a real concealed firearm on his body. Hand the BG the dud while pulling out the real deal under cover of the distraction...

Apparently there was no back up gun.

If I ever end up with another Sig Mosquito or an Erma Luger, maybe I will do the same thing. Seems like a fine way to get rid of a crappy gun without the hassle and politically dirty feeling of a gun buyback! :D
I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

Back in the day, when I was working in uniform (rent-a-cop), a lot of Officers carried an empty (or even more useless) sidearm OC, and depended on a backup (usually a J-frame) for real shooting.

If the BG snatched your sidearm, he was in trouble....

Regards,
Stu.

(Why write a quick note when you can write a novel?)

(Why do those who claim to wish to protect me feel that the best way to do that is to disarm me?)

That's actually a smart idea lol...Too bad they can't be rigged like blade's katana hilt and spring blades out if someone grabbed said firearm that wasn't supposed to be handling said firearm
