OC'ing in Middletown, Oh

Open Carry is carrying a firearm unconcealed in Ohio. OC does not require a concealed handgun license, but the practice requires intimate knowledge of the law since there are places and situations where OC is prohibited but carrying concealed would be permitted. OC is also likely to attract attention. This forum is for discussion of OC, not for debating the pro's and con's or coordinating any type of protest events.

OC'ing in Middletown, Oh

Post by charliej47 »

 I was in Middletown on Sunday and at Captain D's. I was waiting on my order and a customer came in and ordered. He saw that I was carrying and asked what it was. I told him that it was a 40 cal Taurus.

HE asked if I had heard anything about the 380 being phased out and I said that there would be a need for it for a long time, as least until I can't shoot any more. :D

Thanks to the internet I can count on reading about a krrrazy gun-related rumor almost once a week. Used to be I'd need to hit gun shops and hear the gossip instead.
Quit worrying, hide your gun well, shut up, and CARRY that handgun!

I heard it's not the .380 that's being phased out, but the .40 S&W!

That's true. Cincinnnati PD went back 9mm M&Ps from Glock 40s. My uncle showed me what they carry, it's 9mm +P+, I think it was some sort of Winchester LEO line.
I can't see the 40 or the 380 going away, they're much too popular, but if you said 25 or 32ACP, that I could possible believe.

Pretty sure it's .22LR they are phasing out because I'm still having a heck of a time finding them.

 I was running around this weekend and one of the places I was at was the Subway shop. I was standing in line and the couple behind me were talking about being worried about meeting someone with a gun.

I'm standing in line ahead of them OC'ing and they did not even notice my weapon. It was in plain sight as I was not trying to conceal it. I left the shop with my order thinking these people don't need to worry as they did not recognize a weapon that was visible.

I was at Gander Mountain in Charleston WV last week end.

They had a pretty good stock of .22L, kick myself for not picking some up.

My brother picked up two (had a friend with him) 1400 rnd buckets of remington 22lr for a "now" reasonable price on Wednesday. The other 3 buckets they had sold out quickly.

 I was at Lowe's returning some items when a retired G.I. stopped me ans asked where I had gotten my holster.

:D I secured my weapon and took off my belt and holster. :D They are made by a guy in Gatlinburg, Tn, named Gary McCoy. The retired G.I. really like the idea that Gary puts the emblem for the service on the holster. I explained about how Gary does everything and what I remembered about the costs.

We finished up, I got redressed and we went on about our business.
