Re: Open Carry In Columbus
I tell my students it is their duty to look for any warnings or posted prohibitions prior to entering any establishment. I am an advocate of common sense and safety. I would never joke about the most basic premise of ignorance of a law that you break is not a defense. With that said, I would carry concealed in uber liberal Columbus.

Re: Open Carry In Columbus
Bringing an old thread back to life? Okay.
I open carry in Columbus quite frequently. While the political landscape is liberal, the Columbus Police are well-informed about open carry.
Columbus has more problems with open carriers than with police harassing open carriers.
The Wendy's at 161 and Busch Blvd. put up a gunbuster sign because an OC'er was asked to leave and started an argument instead of just leaving.
Now there's no OC or CC there.

There are anti-gun idiots and there are pro-gun idiots. Neither side has a monopoly on being stupid.

Unfortunately, it is the pro-gun idiots who screw things up for the rest of us. The above anecdote is a good example.BobK wrote:Sigh . . .MyWifeSaidYes wrote:The Wendy's at 161 and Busch Blvd. put up a gunbuster sign because an OC'er was asked to leave and started an argument instead of just leaving.

On duty to look for any warnings or posted prohibitions, does not mean call ahead and ask if they allow guns. This is a no-no.ltcfb118 wrote:I tell my students it is their duty to look for any warnings or posted prohibitions prior to entering any establishment. I am an advocate of common sense and safety. No, it is both the pro-gun idiots and the anti-gun idiots (I know that second part is redundant).Werz wrote:Unfortunately, it is the pro-gun idiots who screw things up for the rest of us. The above anecdote is a good example.
Yes, I do believe in open carry. An openly armed man is clear in his intentions. Concealed carriers are sneaks and skulkers and elitist, boot licking, political contribution making, running dog lackies of The Man. <wink> (thx grumpycoconut - OpenCarry.org)

No, that redundancy is of the essence. Anti-gun idiots are simply ignorant. Pro-gun idiots should know better. That's why they hurt us.BB62 wrote:No, it is both the pro-gun idiots and the anti-gun idiots (I know that second part is redundant).Werz wrote:Unfortunately, it is the pro-gun idiots who screw things up for the rest of us. Re: Open Carry In Columbus
I'm just gonna put this out there... i'm not sure it's being poked with a sharp stick that that lady needs. She seems pretty uptight.
Did anyone else watch the entire senate hearing, 216 i think it was? Her face was so screwed up, you'd think she was sitting on that stick mentioned above.
And as far as the whole pro-gun idiot vrs anti-gun idiot, i have to say i agree that people who advocate carrying a deadly weapon should be held to a higher standard when it comes to maturity and responsibility. However, it's increasingly annoying that those standards have to be so high as to be constantly toeing the line, like driving on an interstate with a trooper behind you. People are people. They make mistakes, they make stupid decisions, and they sometimes fight the right battle in the wrong place.

Re: Open Carry In Columbus
Why would you want to open carry? Why do you want to let the bad guy know to shoot you first?
Open carry makes too many people nervous. What they don't see they don't fear. Don't give them a reason to hate the gun movement.

Firearms make too many people nervous. What they don't understand they fear already. They don't need a reason to hate the gun movement.
Please, this subject has been discussed ad nauseum. You may use the search engine to find a thread on the matter, elsewhere. This is the Open Carry Forum.

Why would you want to come on here and in ten posts or less lecture us on how we should or shouldn't carry?PersonalCCW wrote:Why would you want to open carry? Why do you want to let the bad guy know to shoot you first?
