The app may have been updated then, but the database updates daily and is up to date with Ohio's new laws including 2923.122, 2923.1210, 311.42, and 2923.12

Also, you can put in all of your state permits (if you have multiple) and you will get a map of the U.S. showing every state you are legal to carry in. I use android but I'm assuming there is a version for iOS as well.

Don't confuse the date of the app update with the data refresh which occurs from within the app. The author updates the database at least monthly.

The Ohio laws appear to be current in the CCW app.

There is another app by Workman consulting LLC called POSTED! - Carry List Anti gun for $1.

This app will use GPS to show CPZ businesses on a map with a red flag.
If you check, show alternate box, it shows you gun friendly businesses with a green flag.

The only problem with POSTED is that it shows many businesses as posted which no longer are and haven't been for some time. It's not kept up to date with the removal of posting.

I see similar problems with all of the crowd-sourced apps out there, which is why I abandoned them.

For non-residents. If you've been an Ohio resident for 6 months or longer, you can carry on an Ohio license or a license from a state with which we have a reciprocity agreement. In this case it doesn't matter since we do have a reciprocity agreement in effect with Michigan, so Ohio residents can carry on a MI license.

We need to be extra careful about exactly what Reciprocity means, legally. In MANY states, it means they will honor your current home state's carry permit only if you are in the process of becoming a resident of the new state. For the most part, Reciprocity does not protect you while driving through from state to state, even if there is a Reciprocity agreement between those states. And you must keep aware of the political winds of states that have flakey governors like Virginia.

Sadly, most all concealed carry laws keep us good guys walking a tight rope, while giving the hardened criminal more slack in a court of law.

What? That is exactly the opposite of reality.

Sorry, Hogleg... you're badly off the mark on that one.

Reciprocity means they'll honor our CHL like they honor our driver's licenses.

It's a bit more complex than that. Reciprocity usually refers to an agreement between the two states to honor each others licenses. Ohio has reciprocity with a number of states. Ohio also honors licenses from all states, whether there is reciprocity or not. So, while Ohio honors Minnesota's licensees, there is no reciprocity and Minnesota does not honor ours. Some states give statutory reciprocity which means they will honor any state's license if that state honors their's. That's how we can carry in Pennsylvania and Colorado. Some states put limitations on what states they will honor such as minimum training hours or a background check. If those requirements aren't met, they will not honor the state's licensees. That's why we can't carry in Minnesota (not enough training and allowing 18 year old military personnel to get licenses) and that's why we can now carry in Texas since the new licenses issued 18 months ago. Some states just don't want anything to do with any other state, such as New York, California, Oregon, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey and so forth.

At my last count, your Ohio license (if issued or renewed in the last 20 months or so) is good in 39 states. That is (or at least was recently) the best you are going to get anywhere. Just stay out of Maryland, New York, Massachusetts, etc. if you are carrying and be darned careful there even if you are transporting under the federal law because those states often ignore that law. You may win in court there, after a number of months in jail, thousands in attorneys fees and possibly having to appeal the case several times.
