newb question. Does a pot charge eliminate CCW approval?
Ohio CCW law booklet indicates any illegal drug charge bars one from obtaining CCW permit. I remember a marijuana addendum was added to Ohio law a few years ago. Does this also apply to CCW or only for general gun possession? Any insight is appreciated. Sorry in advance, I'm sure this is a repost.

What was the charge? A minor misdemeanor, misdemeanor or felony?

A misdemeanor of some sort. I wasn't even arrested. The cop gave me a citation. I went to court, plead guilty, and paid a fine. I was 19 at the time.Gramps wrote:What was the charge? A minor misdemeanor, misdemeanor or felony?

Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals rules no gun or ammunition sales for known pot smokers.

If it was a minor misdemeanor it shouldn't be an issue.noffinater wrote:A misdemeanor of some sort. I wasn't even arrested. The cop gave me a citation. I went to court, plead guilty, and paid a fine. I was 19 at the time.Gramps wrote:What was the charge? A minor misdemeanor, misdemeanor or felony?

2923.125 Application and licensing process.

Re: newb question. Does a pot charge eliminate CCW approval
Technically, the answer to your question is "yes." A pot charge would disqualify you under 2923.125(D)(1)(d):
Once that charged turns into a conviction for a minor misdemeanor, you would be eligible to get your CHL as provided elsewhere in this thread. The applicant is not under indictment for or otherwise charged with a felony; an offense under Chapter 2925., 3719., or 4729. of the Revised Code that involves the illegal possession, use, sale, administration, or distribution of or trafficking in a drug of abuse
I am a lawyer; I am not your lawyer.
