.22 Rim Fire Sporter Match (9/12-26/15) Salem

Post by Jake »

We'll be holding more Sporter Matches on Saturday, Sept. 12 and 26th.. It's not an officially sanctioned match.
We will however be using the format as described in the CMP guide.

The Sporter Matches are like High Power Matches, except you use a .22 rifle.

You shoot from three positions while on the clock..
Prone (sling permitted) @ 50yds.
Sitting / kneeling (sling permitted) @ 50 yds.
Standing, off hand (no sling) @ 25 yds.

The cost for the match will be $7.00 for SHC Members & $10 for non members.
Registration starts at 9am and we're hopeful to be shooting by 10am.

You'll need to be sure to have appropriate gear. Here is a link to what you should expect.

They will just be confused when you tell them they are not allowed to use their sling in the standing offhand shooting position.. :D

Hey Bruenor...I represent that remark!
No sling for offhand is just one more small obstacle a Rifleman will certainly overcome.

I know the appleseeders will do fine, (appleseed improved my CMP scores considerably). It's like an automatic reflex the first time someone shoots a match and you tell them they can't use their sling when standing. What ? Why ? :D

Hope your match went well.

Had a bit of a light turnout, but it seemed like everyone had fun, even if there was that one person who was ....ermmm.....unknowingly bending the rules at the start (hint: it was this guy ----->). Anyways, it was well run, and I learned a bit about having spare mags ready to for when jams happen.

The match did go well and it was a learning experience for all of us. This was our first so there are a few small bugs to work out.

Everyone was generally safe and naturally that's the main priority.

We're going to try it again next Saturday and see how it goes. Maybe some of you can make it...
