Video from BASS Match

Post by dl1911 »

Spent long enough making this video today of me at Stonewall's BASS match last night that I decided to share it here! Good time and already looking forward to next month's match (3rd Saturday of every month at 5:30). Hoping the noise and flash from a 10mm with a 4-1/4" barrel shooting 165gr bullets with 11.3gr of Blue Dot will help wake the gods in charge of warmer weather and spring! Did okay accuracy wise with the new gun (S&W 1076) but need to work on speed with it.

Well, it wasn't Sonny's Bren Ten, but at least it was a 10mm!

Before the scene with Marvin it looked as though you may have anticipated one or two rounds. But being a mighty 10mm definately understandable.

Usually a 1911 guy, getting used to the DA/SA trigger will take some time and work. Had pretty good accuracy though so corrected any anticipating before finishing the trigger pull. Only about 575ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle (1250-1260gps with 165gr bullet). My "normal" 10mm load (180gr bullet, 1267fps) comes in at 640ft/lbs so last night was "light" loads! For some reference points, .45ACP Ranger T-Series +P is 501 ft/lbs and with most .40S&W and 9mm defensive loads being under 400 ft/lbs. Hornady's .44 Critical Defense comes in at 610 ft/lbs and Speer's 125gr 357Magnum Gold Dot at 584 ft/lbs.
