Looking for an instructor class
I'm looking for a ccw instructor course near greene county. Closest ones I have found are an hour or more away. I'm fine with the hour drive but would like to see if there are any closer before committing to the longer distances lol. 3gtactical in tipp city is no longer offering instructor courses.

Do you want an NRA Instructor course (http://www.nrainstructors.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), a USCCA Instructor course (http://www.usccainstructors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) or an SAF Instructor course (http://www.saftd.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)?

@MWSY, Can you explain the pros and cons of each type?MyWifeSaidYes wrote:Do you want an NRA Instructor course (http://www.nrainstructors.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), a USCCA Instructor course (http://www.usccainstructors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) or an SAF Instructor course (http://www.saftd.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)?
I'm new to Akron and also just started looking for instructors in my area. Thanks.

If you want to gain an Instructor credential, they're all the same. Each will enable you to teach Ohio CHL classes.Spidey wrote:@MWSY, Can you explain the pros and cons of each type?MyWifeSaidYes wrote:Do you want an NRA Instructor course (http://www.nrainstructors.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), a USCCA Instructor course (http://www.usccainstructors.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) or an SAF Instructor course (http://www.saftd.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)?

As far as the pros and cons of the actual education, I couldn't say. I only have an NRA Instructor and RSO credentials.
Stryker74 has both NRA and USCCA Instructor credentials. I don't know anyone that has their SAFTD cert.
I do know that the USCCA course is more expensive up front, but it qualifies you to teach 3 different classes.

It also includes the teaching aids and student materials needed to teach your first 10 (?) students as I recall. All in all not a bad deal, but it is more expensive up front. Still trying to arrange the time and save up the money to take it myself.MyWifeSaidYes wrote:I do know that the USCCA course is more expensive up front, but it qualifies you to teach 3 different classes.

Re: Looking for an instructor class
Ok now I understand the difference, thanks. Good information to have if I choose to go that route.
I am looking into the CCW class at The Marksmen Range in Norton as it is the closest to me. Can anyone recommend them or describe your experience there? I'd be willing to travel farther for a better experience/training if needed.

Re: Looking for an instructor class
Seems you can't swing a dead cat without hitting an instructor teaching a CCW class these days.
That said just make sure you know the laws and don't accept a class offering less than the required 8 hours and make sure you do the full 2 hours of range time.
It's not worth the hassle or penalties involved in short cutting.
