40 watts, is that set to tickle? Tickle Taser? Giggle Gun?BEAR! wrote:I'll stick with my phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range.
Not really. The 7.62 NATO is like 60 years old or something. It's been with us all along. I used to have Vietnam-era black tip surplus ammo back in the late 1980's. No cop in their right mind is going to want to wear that level of protection - especially in hot climates. They're more concerned with defeating the common "street" weapons in the common calibers, anyway.CCIman wrote:Unfortunately if military has it and proves it, we and criminals on the street can get it too, or make it, so up the ante for LE agencies to improve body armor to the next level.
Well, I would guess that most of them carry stolen handguns, mostly semi-autos in the usual handgun calibers. As for "common street criminals" wearing AR500 plates and carrying AK pistols...I doubt there's anything common about that. Your one-upsmanship concept of "anything you can carry, I can carry bigger and better" would not work very well for law enforcement. What would the cops need to carry to match or exceed the firepower of an AK pistol? And try walking around all day in the Summer heat while wearing a heavy steel plate strapped to your chest...along with all your other gear. Its a known fact that some officers in Florida and other hot climates occasionally ditch their issued body armor for Level I or none at all. Even cops have to make compromises.CCIman wrote:Common street criminals can wear ar500 plates, and carry AK pistols. What does LE currently typically carry, and wear?
