Howa Rifles
Been looking at the Howa brand rifle reviews. All seem to be positive for it being an accurate out of the box rifle. Has anyone here got any experience with that brand? They are really reasonably priced from what I've seen.
"Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home
Let me die in a pile of empty brass."

Re: Howa Rifles
I use a Howa 1500 short action .223 with a 24" heavy barrel. Rifle works wonderfully on a budget and it is my prairie dog gun.
Howa makes the rifle that Weatherby brands the Vanguard, their entry level rifle.

I like to swap brass... and I'm looking for .32 H&R Mag, .327 Fed Mag, .380 Auto and 10mm. If you have some and would like to swap for something else, send me a note!

Re: Howa Rifles
I have read good things about them. I'm trying to decide between the .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor....Leaning more towards the .308 due to cost and available reloading components.

Very good rifles. Also look at Tikka brands.

I'll see you a Tikka and raise you a Savage with money left over for half of a good scope.jeep45238 wrote:Very good rifles. Also look at Tikka brands.

I've always thought Savage was underrated. But have been reading about quality issues with Savage these days. That's why I am looking at Howa. Im looking at the Howa 1500. Under $700, looking to spend that or more on a scope.

Not enough of a scope/mount to be any better than an iron sight tikka. Had that with a buddy's .270 savage I zeroed today. After 10 rounds the scope moved enough to interfere with the bolt handle.

I had a great humorous reply to this, but decided it stood on its own merits.jeep45238 wrote:Mr. Glock wrote:I'll see you a Tikka and raise you a Savage with money left over for half of a good scope.jeep45238 wrote:Very good rifles. Also look at Tikka brands.

Kinda harkens back to the " pepper-spray defense " thread not too long ago.Mr. Glock wrote:I had a great humorous reply to this, but decided it stood on its own merits.jeep45238 wrote:... snip...Mr. Glock wrote:Very good rifles. Also look at Tikka brands.

Update
I've decided to go with a different set up. Had my LGS to order me a Savage 10FCP SR .308. I'm also gonna put a Vortex 4-16x44 HST scope on it also mounting a bipod on it. Getting a pretty good deal on the package.

Re: Howa Rifles
I have a Howa M1 Carbine. Bought it in Sacramento, when guns were still legal in California. Has an interesting history, Howa was real big in M1 carbines after WW2. Mine has the Royal Thai Crest on the receiver. http://www.m1carbinesinc.com/carbine_howa2.html
