Thinking of taking AR-15 armorer class

This is where you can talk about all equipment issues; firearms, ammunition, magazines, care & repair, holsters, gun cases, etc.

Thinking of taking AR-15 armorer class

Post by pk47 »

I recently purchased my first AR-15, roughly a month ago.

I have of course used it and cleaned it, but I was thinking of taking a one day armorer class for non LEO to better understand the assembly mechanics and cleaning/lubrication. I've gone as far as field stripping but no deeper.

Any suggestions of places in Ohio or western PA?

I've found a number of YouTube videos but what some of them call an armorer's video Ieaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks for any suggestions you have.

(My rifle mainstay over the years have been my SKSes which are less complex, and less fussy)

Thanks to my buddy LegoGlock:

Weyer Tactical out of Alliance has on their calendar an AR-specific armorer's course on Saturday, September 17.

AR15 Armorer's Course
Armorer's Course
Cost:$125

Time: 8:00am - 4:00pm

Instructor: Dave Laubert

Description: This course will help you learn everything regarding the maintenance and functionality of your AR15 pattern rifle. You will completely tear apart your rifle, down to the last nut and bolt, and learn about each piece while you put it back together. All tools, manuals, and other necessities will be supplied but we do prefer that you bring your own weapon systems so that you may get familiar with their configuration and modifications.

That's much shorter than the armourers course I took at Ft Lee, Va. Of course they threw in other stuff like the M203, M9, M60 and M2.
