Take on LC9s
What do you all think about the LC9s as a CC?

Re: Take on LC9s
I have the LC9s Pro as my current EDC. Shoots great, carries easily. I have actually been carrying it in an OWB paddle holster, which is quite comfortable. It is my first striker fired gun, and it has no manual safeties, so I am extra cautious when holstering.
I have recently fired an aquaintance's Glock 43 and while the Glock had less felt recoil, I preferred the ergonomics of the Ruger. I haven't fired a Shield with a pinky extension, so I can't offer a good comparison there..
Overall I think it is a good pistol, quite worthy of carrying.

My wife's EDC is one of the original LC9 hammer-fired pistols. Conceals well, shoots well (if you can master the long, heavy double-action pull - not an issue for you if you get the LC9s of course). It was one of my top 3 contenders for a carry gun when I finally got my license, and the new LC9s would still be on that list if I were choosing today.

I bought a nice used one yesterday and I do like it so far.
I think with a little more trigger time really like it!
Thanks all!

There have been subtle changes to the grip on the s, so be sure to make sure you still like it/can work with it.JustaShooter wrote:My wife's EDC is one of the original LC9 hammer-fired pistols. There's nothing like taking the gun out for live-fire.
It's like test-driving a car.

Re: Take on LC9s
Made a really bad mistake last week. I was going out back to put a few rounds thru my LCP and LC9s. Wifie was home so I asked if she wanted to join.
She hasn't got her CC yet but plans on it when she can afford the time. (she was working 3 jobs for years but has just cut back to 2) She owns a Phoenix HR22 which she is pretty good with and likes. (Cheap but is a fun and dependable play thing)
She was shooting the LCP and likes it somewhat then I let her put a few magazines through the LC9s and now she wants it!
Looks like when she gets her CC I will be looking a an LC9s for me..........

Re: Take on LC9s
Shot one a few years ago and was very impressed. Felt good, very accurate (no problem doing a slightly over 1" group at 7yds in rapid fire (3 shots in under 2 seconds). Trigger pull is long and heavy, more like a revolver than a pistol. The one I shot had a hammer and thumb safety. Wasn't able to easily thumb it on like I do with a 1911, but come off very easily and naturally to me. Was tempted to buy one last year but was special circumstances and I decided not to (catch up with me somewhere and I'll explain why it would probably have been a bad idea). Gotta make a pitch here now. I often help out a friend with his tables at the Medina, Berea and Summit county gun shows who is a Ruger dealer. I'll be at Berea this weekend and he should have several LC9s.

Re: Take on LC9s
That would be the original LC9 which is hammer fired. The new LC9s (s for striker fired) has a much different and better trigger feel since it is a well-designed striker-fired mechanism.dl1911 wrote:Shot one a few years ago and was very impressed. Re: Take on LC9s
I have one and really like it. It is now my preferred carry gun. I ordered
one with the manual thumb safety option and changed my magazine
floor plates to the finger grip extension type. This makes for a much
improved grip and control.
Over the years and many different holsters, I have found a great set up for
comfortable, safe, and easy access using the following set-up.
My belt is a "Wilderness" 5-Stitch Instructors belt. It is 1-3/4 wide with
a nylon siffener
My holster is a "High Noon" Extreme duty Slide Guard in black. I thread the
belt on the outside of the holster. This method pulls the gun close to your
body without having to tighten the hell out of your belt. This will also keep
your holster from "Drooping" and will give you more life out of your rig.
Having the wider belt is a big help as well.
Enjoy!

Re: Take on LC9s
I have a similar but not identical holster and not sure it right for me . A garage sale purchase that I will try when the T shirt and jeans garb is over and cooler weather is here.OhioMike wrote:I have one and really like it. It is now my preferred carry gun. I ordered

Re: Take on LC9s
I have both an IWB and a OWB holster for my LC9s. The IWB is the N82Tactical Professional holster. It's easily the most comfortable IWB holster I've had yet. For OWB, I use a Safariland 5198, and it's fantastic and currently my favorite carry method.
