I'm looking at two seemingly identical red dot sights for the same price, but one has the ability to change dot color from red to green. Is there any value to this feature?
The sight is Vortex StrikeFire II

Re: red dot vs red/green dot optic
Not sure about the dot optics but with the lasers, in bright light (aka outdoors in the sun) the green tends to be more visible over a greater distance than the reds. Guessing the green dots vs red dots would be for the same reason?
Edit to add - Looks like it is the opposite. From the few places I could find that talked about red dot vs green dot, the green dot is preferred for night/low light conditions and red for normal light. Opposite of lasers.

We've got a Bushnell that has 4 reticles and the two colors, and it is correct that red is easier to see in the daylight than green.

Turns out, the red only StrikeFire2 has a higher maximum brightness.
