If I'm paying near $15 a mag I'll wait for the nice 18 round mecgars, but it's hard to beat $9 or less for surplus mags :)

You can't truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of violence, you're not peaceful, you're harmless.

Does this change anyone's answer?
Nope.

I"m going from an XDs in .45 to an XD Mod 2, 3" in 9mm.

I'm not in favor of the added weight of the 3" mod 2 but I'll be carrying one spare as apposed to two w/ the XDs single stack.

I own a full size 9mm M&P, a full size .45 M&P and my wife owns a 9mm M&P Shield.
The full size 9mm and .45 have had few thousand rounds shot through them without a hiccup.
The Shield is newer and has shot about 500 rounds without a single problem.
For a smaller gun, the shield is excellent... feels good in your hands and is very accurate.
S&W hit a home run with the M&P's.
